About the collection

A daily companion to the book.

These devotions adapt The Formative Gift of Gathering: Liturgies That Shape Us in the Places We Share by Dr. R. C. Titus.

The twenty readings follow all twenty chapters in their original order. The five plans retain the book’s five-part structure, with four, three, seven, two, and four readings. Scripture passages, reflection questions, practices, and prayers have been developed for this shorter Christian devotional companion. The book’s discussion of embodiment and relationships is used as an invitation to attentive care, not as medical advice or a promise of healing.

The complete web collection contains 20 readings across 5 plans. Each reading includes selected Scripture, a shorter devotional, a reflection question, a practical response, and an original prayer. You can follow the sequence daily or spend longer with a reading.

Scripture credits

Scripture passages displayed here use the World English Bible Updated (WEBU), American English edition, with LORD or GOD for the divine name in the Old Testament. This edition is in the public domain. The web companion uses it consistently; the original book may use other translations.

The passages are reproduced from the official eBible.org edition. Scripture wording and verse numbers are retained, with paragraph and poetry line breaks presented for this reading layout. The devotional interpretation and prayers are distinct from the quoted Scripture.
